Thumbs.db file is not a virus. It is just a windows file, used internally by the system to cache thumbnails. This file is a hidden file.

Using thumbs, db file does not affect your system performance. However it is irritating sometimes to see hidden files, that how it is with windows right?

In order to remove thumbs,db file, you must ask windows not to cache thumbnails in future. You can do so the following steps.

1. Open My Computer

2. Choose tools in menu

3. Choose folder options

4. Click on the View tab.

5. Check Do not cache thumbnails checkbox

6. Click on OK.

If you have a folder with lot of pictures and you are in thumbnails mode, this can actually slow your computer processing speed.
