the xfce desktop environment

If you have been using kde and are looking for an alternative, either opting for more performance or for a change, you can try xfce. Xfce is very light and can be customized totally. I have seen people use xfce with xubuntu and they have praised the speed.
One developer i talked with, also said that the xfce environment is very light weight and the code has a lot of reusable snippets. The current version is xfce 4.4, and it also adheres to standards. Imagine the caption - “and everything goes faster” , hope it works for you.
