We know windows is stupid, but there are good software to cover up, well almost. Security has been a major threat to windows users and despite firewall and anti virus, some thing goes wrong in your system and you have a bad experience.
You must consider moving to a better operating system, the two alternatives being OS X and linux. The second option is free too. If you are still sticking to windows, here is a list of software that will help add security to windows. The list contains only free programs and hence feel free to try them out.
