more firefox in europe, no more ie

Stupid old Internet Explorer form Microsoft is not the favorite browser in Europe. While stats show that the firefox is the preferred browser for more than 165, this percentage is constantly growing.

While new browsers like camino and flock and also safari in windows is showing more hope, the firefox takes advantage over most windows users, who have started using firefox, it is the Internet Explorer which has taken the beating.

Firefox users took over more than 20% in the internet world more than 2 years ago and the percentage has gone up to almost 27% in this year. Are internet users in Europe getting better at technology than most others??

Here is a list of little known browsers, which you can give a try.

is opera really good?

A couple of days back, i was having coffee with a friend, a developer himself. An ardent anti-microsoft developer, he works primarily on Linux. It was during a conversation, i understood Opera was not a bad browser as i had assumed.

When it comes to just browsing the internet, i was always keen on using a light weight browser. Here is a list of browsers, which you could have heard little about. Other than the standard browsers, internet Explorer, FireFox, flock and safari, i never tried suing any thing else.

A few people have pointed out that

1. Opera is faster or as fast as firefox.

2. You wont miss the plugins, there are enough debugging plugins, analogous to firebug and web developer toolbar.

3. There are two versions for the mobile. Opera mobile and opera mini. The latter version is really light weight. I believe in using multiple versions, preferably the lighter ones while streaming videos.

Looks like, Opera was not advertised properly, you may want to look at opera features.

My friend also pointed out the create search feature of Opera, where it is possible to integrate the search engines and customize it as possible.

So, as long as you are not using Internet Explorer, it is OK. :-)

try new browsers - throw ie in to the bin

I hate Internet Explorer, but still i have it in my comp. Some programs by default assume i am running windows and open up IE, which if not present might hang the program.

Why dont you take a look at the alternate browsers you have?

I am not listing the most popular ones here - firefox and opera.

1. Safari - Yes, safari was introduced for windows as well last year and is the faster than the standard browsers. here is a review , which lists the pros and cons of safari browser.

2. SeaMonkey - this mozilla suite comes with a calendar and html editor, besides other apps. It is a old suite from the open source mozilla project. it is as good as firefox.
3. Flock - The social browser has links to social media websites and image hosting websites like flickr , photobucket and picassa. It is also from the open source mozilla project.

4. K-meleon - Also from the mozilla project, it is a light weight and very fast browser, that you can use to stream videos.

I understand firefox is the best, with its array of extensions and other features, but new browsers are also worth a try.
