It is amazing to see a website get more traffic than even google

According to alexa ratings, which rates websites on the number of visits received with internet users using the alexa toolbar, google.com was in the second position, next only to yahoo users. The story no longer is same.

Enough dragging, the video website youtube now receives more traffic than even google. It is surprising to see this in a couple of aspects.

1. Google receives traffic from a lot of resources like browser in built searches and much more. Still youtube has been more popular. But this traffic source is only by people who have installed the alexa toolbar.

2. The acquistaion of youtube was a brilliant one by google. The traffic gained is enormous. But till date, google has not made much money from youtube. The idea of video ads no longer appeals and google does not want to put up simple google adsense there, thereby losing innovation.

Internet emperors will not be an exaggerated word to describe google. The internet leaders have been in the market on top for years and own the search engine traffic for more than 80%.

But when it came to other companies, and about Microsoft acquiring yahoo, google says that the software giants would ruin the internet. We all know what happened to the PC and how much was windows monopolized, despite being a bad product.

While it is not fear of a challenge or a competition, google feels that the web would be more closed on the open source angle, due to this takeover.
